I'm a business and technology reporter for The New York Times and the daily newsletter DealBook. Based in San Francisco, I cover the race to build and invest in AI as well as the inner workings of Silicon Valley. 

I previously was a reporter at The Information, where I broke news on the fundraises, compute ambitions, and financial performance of leading AI startups, including OpenAI and Anthropic. I got my start in journalism as a Marjorie Deane fellow at The Economist and as a reporting fellow at Business Insider.

My reporting won two Best in Business awards from the Society for Advancing Business Editing in 2025, and my writing was shortlisted for the Financial Times Bracken Bower Prize in 2021. 

Prior to journalism, I worked in the tech industry. This included nearly four years in venture capital at Sierra Ventures and Emerson Collective, where I invested in early-stage startups in AI and enterprise software. I also worked as a product manager for the fintech startup Capchase.

I hold both a BA in Economics and an MS in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, where I wrote a novella about the 2007 Recession for my honors thesis. During college, I interned at the Federal Reserve, the State Department, and the World Bank.
